Steve Harvey visits Ghana. As part of The Year of Return, renowned entertainment host Steve Harvey and his wife Majorie visited Ghana. Steve broke down in tears multiple times during his tour of Ghana’s slave castle where the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade took place. He said he kept feeling the spirits of his ancestors around him and made him feel heavy and couldn’t stop crying seeing what they went through before they got to the Unitied States and other parts of the world.

Steve Harvey said he felt the spirit of the many West Africans who were brutalized in the castle and transported like non-humans for the torturous trip across the Atlantic Ocean.

Harvey accompanied by his wife, Marjorie, visited Elmina Castle on the Cape Coast where they were getting a tour and of the trading post that was erected by the Portuguese in the 1400s. This is the latest leg of his multi-country vacation and he said he feels robbed that he never got to see home before now. He shed tears seeing the place (castle) but it was still mixed with excitement and happiness for seeing where and how his ancestors got to the United States.

Steve added he would entreat every African-American to visit the continent if they have the means, to at least know where their ancestors came from and what they went through. He believes this will be a lifetime experience to whoever has the chance to visit.
